How Does CEREC Work?
Crowns can take up to three visits and the use of a temporary to fully restore your tooth. With CEREC technology this can be done in a single visit while you are in the chair! CEREC’s precision 3D technology allows us to create a customized crown that fits your teeth perfectly and is completely biocompatible with your own tooth structure.
Next, Dr. Marinic will design your crown or bridge using the CEREC computer software. He will have taken precise measurements and impressions of your existing tooth, and he will use the computer to plan your restoration down to the tiniest detail of size, shape and color.
Dr. Marinic will place the porcelain into the CEREC milling machine, and the computer-guided tool will craft it to match Dr. Marinic’s specifications.
Once the fit and look are right, Dr. Marinic will place your crown or bridge, and you will be ready to go. Expect to be able to eat and smile normally. CEREC reconstructions expand in the same way as teeth do, and also because it comes from a single block, a CEREC restoration is less prone to cracks and flaws than other types of restoration.
Many people are actually allergic to traditional metal crowns. This shows up as swollen, red and receding gums. Removing metal crowns and replacing them with CEREC restorations allows the gums to recover, returning to a healthy, pink and firm condition.
