Advanced Digital Scanning for Superior Dentistry

North Shore dentist Daniel Marinic has been providing high-quality, state-of-the-art dental treatment to his patients for more than 26 years. A Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, he has undergone more than 1300 hours of advanced clinical training in complex dental procedures.

In 2007, Dr. Marinic became the first dentist to install the GALILEOS Cone Beam 3D imager as a tool for diagnosis and treatment planning for those considering dental implants. Use of this amazing scanner virtually eliminates the guess work from implant surgery, and enables Dr. Marinic to see and plan for any complexities before he begins your treatment.

What is the GALILEOS?

The Galileos will quickly and comfortably scan your head and neck.

The GALILEOS is a revolutionary CT or CAT scanning device that is a fraction of the size of a bulky medical scanner, and scans only your head and neck region. The Cone Beam scanner that Dr. Marinic uses sets new standards in dental care by combining the lowest radiation dosage with superior image quality.

In just 14 seconds, the scanner will take 200 individual images, allowing Dr. Marinic to view your mouth and jaw from literally any angle, and in the smallest possible detail. The resolution produced is 500 % greater than the resolution from a medical CT scanner, and the radiation has been reduced by 95%.

In this video, Dr. Marinic explains how he uses the Galileos to plan dental implant surgery.

Why Are These Scans Important?

Dr. Marinic uses these detailed scans to help him plan dental implant surgery. Whether he is placing a single dental implant, multiple implants or a fixed bridge or denture, the Galileos gives him a three dimensional view of your head, neck, and jaw that will enable him to do three things:

  • Evaluate fully the depth and strength of the bone that you have to support your implants;
  • Anticipate any potential difficulties or problems that could arise in implant surgery; and
  • Virtually plan your surgery completely before he begins

Nothing is Left to the Imagination!

For patients, the mysteries of being able to read interpret and understand xrays are a thing of the past. Our patients see, first hand, nearly every conceivable view of their jaws, teeth, soft tissue and hard tissue with unsurpassed clarity.

Dr. Marinic will explain your impending surgery to you in detail, and he will do it with the aid of the Galileos images so that you can understand exactly what is going on.

Meet Our Patients

Mark was unhappy with a large silver-colored filling that was 10 years old. The amalgam material that had been used for the filling was more than just unsightly: it was about 50% mercury, one of the most toxic substances known. For health and aesthetic reasons, Mark wanted Dr. Marinic to remove the filling and replace it with something biocompatible. We carefully used a standard, accredited protocol that isolated the tooth and prevented any of the toxic material or gas from the filling to escape back into Mark’s mouth. The procedure was very fast, and Mark said that he didn’t feel
