Shon

A basketball player, Shon suffered an injury in high school when his two front teeth were hit. The original damage was repaired in the emergency room, but over time the trauma spread.

When Shon came to Dr. Marinic, the doctor spotted the continuing trauma on his x-rays. After discussing all of his options, Shon elected to have Dr. Marinic replace the damaged teeth with veneers.

More than 10 years later, Shon is still very happy with the manner in which Dr. Marinic repaired his injury. He says, "Dr. Marinic explained everything so that I knew exactly what to expect. And that’s one thing I like about Dr. Marinic. When he tells you what to expect, you know it’s going to happen."

Bette

When Bette retired from teaching a few years ago, she knew that it was time for her to pursue her dream of an acting career. She started taking acting classes and performing in local theatre productions, but she felt that what she really needed to boost her confidence was a smile makeover.

Dr. Marinic was very happy to help Bette achieve her goals with high-quality porcelain veneers. He designed them carefully to make sure that they would look beautiful and natural.

Bette loves her new smile! She's been in several television commercials now, and is living her dream of being a professional actress.

Craig

Craig has been a patient of Dr. Marinic's for over 15 years, and has come in for dental maintenance and care. He's had several crowns and inlays, and is always interested in finding out about the newest technology that Dr. Marinic has added to his office.

Most recently, Craig came in to ask Dr. Marinic to look at a tooth that was bothering him. Dr. Marinic discovered that he needed a new crown.

We used the CEREC computer and milling machine to design and mill that crown for Craig, and Craig left in about an hour with his new permanent crown firmly in place.

Craig says, "There's certain things I don't like to skimp on - good scotch and my teeth are two of them. That's why I come to Dr. Marinic."

Robin

Robin came in to us 2 years ago, suffering with a lot of pain and bone loss in her mouth. She had nearly given up on fixing her smile.

Dr. Marinic met with her and did a thorough exam, including a Galileos 3D CT scan, which showed him exactly what was going on with her teeth and jaw. Together, they set up a treatment plan that would result in Robin smiling again.

Robin says that the thing that she appreciates most about her treatment -- other than her new, beautiful smile -- is the friendliness with which Dr. Marinic and his team treated her. She says, "Dr. Marinic really does treat you like a friend. It's very friendly, and I actually feel close to him and his staff."

Tony

Dr. Marinic has done three dental implants for Tony, and several CEREC crowns and fillings. He's very happy with all of them.

But the real story that Tony likes to tell has to do with something that seemed very simple, but disturbing: he had a bad taste in his mouth. And no matter what he did, nothing made it go away.

Over the course of a year, Tony visited specialist after specialist, but no one could find anything wrong.

Finally, Tony consulted Dr. Marinic, who decided to do a bone density scan. He found what everyone else had missed: when Tony's wisdom teeth were extracted (by another practitioner), the bone had never healed properly. When Dr. Marinic went in to investigate, he found a small piece of terra-cortil gauze that had been left inside Tony's bone, and removed it.

The bone healed, and the taste went away completely. Tony says that Dr. Marinic "saved his life" by making it livable again.

Bob

When Bob first came to see Dr. Marinic, he had not been to the dentist for a while, and his teeth and gums were showing the signs of that neglect. Dr. Marinic worked with Bob to put together a treatment plan that would restore his teeth and gums to a healthy, functional condition.

First, Dr. Marinic used laser gum therapy to restore Bob's gums to healthy function. Bob told us that he was surprised when the treatment didn't hurt.

Bob also underwent treatment to have his old amalgam (mercury) fillings safely replaced with tooth-colored, biocompatible fillings. His large inlays and onlays were replaced rapidly, using the CEREC milling machine right here in our office.

When Bob's two front teeth could not be saved, Dr. Marinic restored his smile with a perfectly crafted bridge.

Bob's been very pleased with his dental care, and also with the way in which Dr. Marinic has helped him to understand the entire process. Says Bob, "I have learned from Dr. Marinic and his staff to take better care of my teeth, so that they should last another 30 years."

Evelyn

Evelyn has a beautiful smile, and Dr. Marinic has been very happy to help her keep it healthy and beautiful over the last twenty–six years.

When she first came to see Dr. Marinic, she had crowns on her top front teeth that she was not happy with, and crooked bottom teeth. Dr. Marinic replaced her top crowns with crowns that were the correctly-matched size and color, and used more crowns to help her straighten her bottom teeth.

When Evelyn cracked an incisor near the gumline, a crown was not an option. Dr. Marinic considered an implant to replace the tooth, but first checked Evelyn's medications. When her medications indicated that she was not a qualified candidate for implant surgery, Dr. Marinic instead gave Evelyn a permanent bridge. She was very happy with this restoration, saying, "Dr. Marinic is very conscious about both aesthetics and function. He is a perfectionist."

Ian

Ian had a crown on one of his front teeth, which had been there for many years and needed to be replaced. We discovered, however that the root of that tooth was no longer healthy, and could not support a new crown.

We replaced the tooth with an implant instead. Seven years later, Ian says he doesn't even notice the implant. It feels and looks perfectly natural, and he doesn't worry about eating whatever he wants.

More recently, Ian had some inlays and crowns placed in the back of his mouth. Using CEREC one-visit technology, we were able to do that work on three teeth in a single visit. Ian was surprised and pleased.

mercury filling removal in Wilmette

Mark

Mark was unhappy with a large silver-colored filling that was 10 years old. The amalgam material that had been used for the filling was more than just unsightly: it was about 50% mercury, one of the most toxic substances known. For health and aesthetic reasons, Mark wanted Dr. Marinic to remove the filling and replace it with something biocompatible.

We carefully used a standard, accredited protocol that isolated the tooth and prevented any of the toxic material or gas from the filling to escape back into Mark's mouth. The procedure was very fast, and Mark said that he didn't feel anything.

After the thorough removal, Dr. Marinic designed a new inlay for the tooth on his computer, and Mark watched as he made the inlay on our CEREC milling machine. Dr. Marinic placed the inlay, adjusted the bite. Now instead of a large silver-colored tooth, Mark's tooth looks just like the rest of his teeth.
